What Is the Safety Concern?

The issue involves the rear center seat belt buckle, specifically the potential for the rear-center buckle release button to break. If the release button breaks, the seat belt buckle may not properly latch, which could prevent the rear center seat belt from securing a passenger before the vehicle is driven. If the seat belt cannot be latched, the occupant would not be restrained in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury. When filing the recall report, Hyundai confirmed that no U.S. crashes, injuries, fires, or field incidents related to this seat belt buckle condition had been reported. It is important to note that the recall does not indicate that every buckle is faulty or will fail, but addresses the potential risk.
